The protagonist of Tale of the Psi.

Nyte was an albino Psi who was thrown from his Citadel upon birth. Kinetica saw that he could be useful in the oncoming war with the Humans, and saved him, turning him into an Unus. She watched him for years, and put a shroud around him, so that only she could see him. As he grew up, he developed extreme anxiety issues and severe depression. During his time, he found a sword, and began to psychically imprint it with his negative personality. Kinetica intervened before it became too powerful, and stopped Nyte from being suicidal. Because of how psychically strong the sword is, it shrouds his mind from other Psi.

During his late adolescence, he found Kinetica's Sacred Cocoon armor.

When he was fully mature, he joined the Black Guard, an independent Guardsman Troop who protect the Crossroads. Despite their strict dress-code, he was allowed to keep his armor under the provision that he wore a red cape. (Which is how he got it.)

Nyte heard about The Landing of the First Psi when he met the Demon Seeker. He communed with Kinetica after, and she told him of the Psi's existence. As the Psi prepared for war, Nyte was told to travel north to Clysta, where the Psi were heading. There he was supposed to ready battlements, and join the battle of Desert Rain that would ensue.

Nyte has a variety of psychological issues. Although he is able to interact with people rather normally (for a knight in black armor), he has plenty of trouble dealing with himself.

If only to compound his mental problems, Nyte isn't the healthiest Psi alive either. Being an albino, he has some physical issues too.
